With a stroke of a pen, George Bush "saved" 400,000 lives. Or so that's the estimate I read in Monday's Philadelphia Inquirer. That's how many fertilized human ova lie in deep freeze right now, waiting for a proper funeral.
Where did these lil humans come from? Left Behinders after in vitro fertilization.
So, if life begins when spermy and eggy combine, shouldn't people who undertake in vitro fertilization be required by law to implant in utero every single fertilized egg? If that isn't practical, why is in vitro fertilization legal in the first place, if it produces Left Behind babies?
I am being a typical sarcastic left-winger here. Of course I support in vitro fertilization! It works, and it makes people happy. But I also support stem cell research, and I think that refusing to fund stem cell research because it kills humans puts the whole ethics of in vitro fertilization in a bright red light.
Mr. President, if you see this post, please explain to me why you aren't calling for an end to all in vitro fertilization treatments, so as not to produce lil humans for the freezer and then the blast furnace.
